What are the qualifications about?

The objective of the Gateway Qualifications Level 4 Diploma in Procurement (QCF) is to confirm occupational competence of those in a procurement role regardless of industry or sector throughout the world.

Who are they for?

The Gateway Qualifications Level 4 Diploma in Procurement (QCF) has been developed in consultation with various stakeholders including the relevant Sector Skills Council (Skills for Logistics) and Training Providers and a replacement for the NQF qualifications in Supply Chain Management (NVQ). The qualifications are supported by employers including a government agency and a local police authority.

These qualifications will be suitable for learners in the following roles.

Buyer
Procurement / purchasing executive
Procurement specialist
Contract officer
Supply chain / inventory / logistics analyst
Supply chain / inventory / logistics planner

Flexibility

Learners take four mandatory units covering:

Develop Working Relationships with Colleagues and Stakeholders
Evaluate Information on Procurement
Improve the Performance of Procurement
Provide Leadership and Direction for Own Area of Responsibility

They then choose from a diverse range of optional units to complete the qualification, tailoring their learning to meet individual and organisational needs.

Prior qualifications or experience

The approved age range for these qualifications is 18+. There is no requirement for learners to have achieved prior qualifications or knowledge.

QCF

All of these new qualifications are part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), applicable in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, providing successful learners with transferable unit credits.

National credit value

60 credits via highly supportive home and workplace study methods.

Full support offered following initial induction and development of personal study plan with an assigned / dedicated tutor. Unlimited telephone, email, SKYPE and SOS support.

Programme outline

Highly flexible to suit learner and employer needs.

4 Mandatory units to the credit value of 19 and Optional units up to the credit value of 41. Making a total credit value of 60.

Assessment

These courses are assessed using evidence from the workplace. This could include professional discussion, questioning / interviews / witness testimonies, reflective accounts or physical products of work (such as plans, reports, correspondence etc.) or other methods allowed within the QCF framework.
