Home learning or study, distance learning, flexible study, supported study and professional workplace learning available. Study at home, at work or a mix of both, at a time and place that fits your personal needs.
What are the qualifications about?
These qualifications are for those working with clients in organisations providing advice and guidance services, on a professional or voluntary basis.
Who are they for?
They are for anyone aged over 18 (Level 4) providing advice and guidance in a professional or voluntary role. You could be working in careers guidance, for a trade union, in a school, in housing, human resources or in health and social care etc.
Flexibility
Learners take five mandatory units covering:
Developing interactions with advice and guidance clients
Managing personal case loads
Evaluating and developing own contribution to the service
Operating within networks
Understanding the importance of legislation and procedures
They then choose from a diverse range of optional units to complete the qualification, tailoring their learning to meet individual and organisational needs.
QCF
All of these new qualifications are part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF), applicable in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, providing successful learners with transferable unit credits.
National credit value
37 credits via highly supportive home and workplace study methods.
Support
Full support offered following initial induction and development of personal study plan with an assigned / dedicated tutor. Unlimited telephone, email, SKYPE and SOS support.
Programme outline
Highly flexible to suit learner and employer needs.
5 Mandatory units to the credit value of 17 and any Optional units up to the credit value of 20. Making a total credit value of 37.
Assessment
These courses are assessed using evidence from the workplace. This could include professional discussion, questioning / interviews / witness testimonies, reflective accounts or physical products of work (such as plans, reports, correspondence etc.) or other methods allowed within the QCF framework. Please note that simulation is not allowed.
