Suitable for any industry, these qualifications cover essential occupational health and safety knowledge and skills, from conducting risk assessments to introducing procedures and promoting a culture of health and safety in the workplace.
Who are they for?
These qualifications are ideal for those responsible for health and safety in the workplace, or for those whose role is to develop and implement health and safety policy and procedures.
The City and Guilds NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Occ. Health and Safety is for people who are engaged in a safety role and wish to further their knowledge and expertise in this important field. It is one of the most common pathways to Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) and the consultants register. Also Grad.IOSH status.
What experience and or qualifications do I need to start the course?
To join us learners need to have some knowledge of health and safety and hold a NEBOSH General Certificate or alternative. Learners will need to be in a health and safety role within an organisation (employed or voluntary) to allow them to generate evidence for assessment purposes. Example evidence include workplace documentation, personal statements, witness testimonies etc. There are no need for exams!
What units does the course cover?
This qualification comprises 11 units. chosen from the following:- Develop and implement effective communication systems for Health and Safety information
- Promote a positive Health and Safety culture
- Develop and maintain individual and organisational competence in Health and Safety matters
- Control Health and Safety risks
- Develop and implement proactive monitoring systems for Health and Safety
- Develop and implement reactive monitoring systems for Health and Safety
- Develop and implement Health and Safety emergency response systems and procedures
- Develop and implement Health and Safety review systems
- Develop and implement the Health and Safety policy
- Develop and implement a Health and Safety audit
- Behavioural safety in the workplace
- Professional development and ethics in Health and Safety management (Unit 611) - Optional extra unit @ £350.
Note: Unit 611 is the required unit to be eligible for Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) and the consultants register. Also Grad.IOSH status.
How will I learn?
You will learn on the job in the work environment at a pace and time that suits you. This will be supported with unlimited access to a dedicated and experienced tutor who will guide you through the programme and work with you to ensure that you maximise your potential.
