Course description

Dignity and Respect Dignity should be at the centre of all care activities and defines a good care service for us all. This Dignity and Respect Level 2 course explores dignity issues and looks at what startegies care workers can adopt with a view to providing a dignified service.

The course is made up of 4 modules.

Module 1 explores what dignity is, its relationship to respect and looks at some of the current UK legislation relevant to this field.

Module 2 looks at environmental and social issues that challenge dignity and suggests ways these can be overcome.

Module 3 outlines SCIEs ten dignity factors and how these can be used to model good practice and improve the lives of people receiving social care.

Module 4 provides a framework for improving standards of dignity, suggesting practical steps that can be taken to help services improve.

In essence the course helps people provide a more dignified care service and is therefore beneficial to people working in a range of care settings, for example, nursing homes, care homes, domiciliary agencies or day services. Carers will learn how to put dignity issues at the centre of all their care activities, but the course will also appeal to other staff within a care environment and how they can use dignity to promote independence.

Previous knowledge

No prior learning knowledge or experience is essential to take this course.

Assessment

Completing a series of tutor marked assignments and or activities marked by your assigned tutor.

Support

You will receive the course manual, assignments, study guide or on-line password and access to learning resources depending on the type of course you start i.e paper based or on-line. Full tutor support by mail, email and on-line via our partner organisation depending on your chosen study route. Their student support team are also available for any other queries that you may have whilst completing your course. You can be assured that 12 months unlimited support will be available during your studies. There will be no need to struggle or feel isolated during your studies.

Start times

You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with full tutor support.
