Course description
52% of all deaths recorded in 2012 occurred in a hospital, yet hospitals were ranked as providing the lowest quality of care during the end of life period. This time in a persons life is sensitive and difficult to deal with for the individual, the family and any carers or staff members involved.
By completing this course, you will not only gain a nationally recognised qualification, but will also prove to any current or future employer that you have the willingness and enthusiasm to go that extra mile in providing the best care for people during this sensitive and emotional time.
Course content
This course is split into manageable sections. These are:
Understanding different attitudes to death and dying
Providing support to manage pain and discomfort
The role of the care worker in times of death
Understanding loss and grief
Previous knowledge
No prior learning knowledge or experience is essential to take this course.
Who is this course suitable for?
The qualification is ideal for anyone who works in, or intends to work in, the health and social care sector, and anyone who is caring for a loved one during their final stages of life. It provides them with knowledge and understanding of end of life care to support their role.
Assessment
Completion of a series of online assessments and activities marked by your assigned tutor. Full support offered.
Support
You will receive an online password and access to learning resources required for your chosen course. In addition, unlimited full email, telephone access to an experienced dedicated personal tutors.
Start times
You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with full tutor support.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the assessments, learners will be awarded the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding End of Life Care and will then be able to progress on to other areas of study.
