Course description and content

This is a QCF qualification which covers:

Understanding end of life care
 
This unit provides learners with an overview of the emotive issues surrounding death and dying. It will also help learners to understand palliative care and its place within end of life care, along with the support services available to the individual and others.

Communication during end of life care
 
This unit aims to give learners an understanding of the importance of communication when supporting an individual and others during end of life care.

Assessment and care planning in end of life care
 
This unit aims to give the learner an understanding of the person-centred approach to assessment and care planning within end of life care, along with the legal implications of any advance care planning decisions.

Person-centred approaches to end of life care
 
This unit will inform learners of the person-centred approach to end of life care and how it ensures that the individuals physical, emotional, social and cultural needs are met.

Care during the final hours of life and bereavement care
 
This unit will assist learners to understand approaches to providing care in the approach to death and the final hours of care. It will also provide an understanding of the processes of loss and grief, how to support those who are bereaved and how to cope with own feelings of stress and grief.

This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and above.

Assessment

Completion of a series of online assessments and activities marked by your assigned tutor. Full support offered.

Support

You will receive an online password and access to learning resources required for your chosen course. In addition, unlimited full email, telephone access to an experienced dedicated personal tutors.

Start times

You have the freedom to start the course at any time and continue your studies at your own pace for a period of up to 12 months from initial registration with full tutor support.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the assessments, learners will be awarded the NCFE Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care.
