Course description

The Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care Certificate Level 2 course has been designed and created to provide students with an indepth knowledge of this inportant subject area. The course is ideal for individuals who currently work in a care setting or aspire to do so. Equally the course is suitable for Supervisors and Managers.

The course covers such areas as communication (verbal and non-verbal) and the different styles that can be used. Learners will also explore legislation and standards related to the social care industry (including the Human Rights Act 1988). Other areas covered include abuse and neglect, The Care Quality Commission (CQC), responding to complaints, risk assessment, hazard analysis, confidentiality and much more!

The course aims to equip students with everything they need to know. Students will have the opportunity to put theory into practice. Learners will be required to study nine modules, all of which will cover a different aspect of working in adult social care.

Unit 3: Principles of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in Adult Social Care Settings
Unit 4: Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care
Unit 5: Introduction to Duty of Care in Health, Social Care or Children's and Young People's Settings
Unit 6: Understand the Role of the Social Care Worker
Unit 7: Understand Person-Centred Approaches in Adult Social Care Settings
Unit 8: Understanding Health and Safety in Social Care Settings
Unit 9: Understanding How to Handle Information in Social Care Settings

Previous knowledge

No prior learning knowledge or experience is essential to take this course.

Assessment

Completing a series of tutor marked assignments and or activities marked by your assigned tutor.

You will receive the course manual, assignments, study guide or on-line password and access to learning resources depending on the type of course you start i.e paper based or on-line. Full  tutor support by mail, email and on-line via our partner organisation depending on your chosen study route.
